RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

I am currently focused on molecular biology research at the labs in the school of dentistry.  The main kinds of cells we are working with are human lymphokine activated killer cells (LAKs).  The basics of the research entail extracting the K9 sequence and exposing sufficient numbers of these and wild type cells to different agents like adrenochrome.  We are looking for how these procedures affect the thy-1 message in these cells.  Thy-1 one is a glycoprotien that is thought to be responsible for several aspects of the immune response in LAKs.
